The Fastest-Growing Trend in Gardening - Food
Josh Viertel is the president of Slow Food USA, a national non-profit organization that focuses on creating a world in which all people can eat food that is good for them, good for the people who grow and sell it and good for the planet. Josh’s passion is to create a social movement around food and farming that rebuilds local communities. For garden center retailers to take full advantage of the food trend, they need to understand how all the different pieces are fitting together to make being a foodie more than a fad. Consumers are learning about nutrition and food from places as varied as schools and restaurant menus. These big issue discussions can lead to new garden center customers if garden centers are stocking what this new consumer wants. If garden centers don’t fully explore how to maximize this trend, they run the risk of missing an opportunity.

Why Michael Moore is Dead Wrong About Capitalism
Howard Bloom, Author and Visionary Thinker
Visionary thinker Howard Bloom has been called one of the most brilliant minds of the 21st century. Howard calls his field "mass behavior" and explains that his area of study includes everything from the mass behavior of quarks to the mass behavior of human beings. Michael Moore has a hit movie, “Capitalism: A Love Story,” in which he portrays capitalism as evil. Is he right? Does capitalism milk the poor to pump money into the pockets of the rich? Is capitalism the cause of the Great Crash of 2008-2009? Is what you do for a living a part of a criminal enterprise? The answer is no! And Howard, the author of “The Genius of the Beast: A Radical Re-Vision of Capitalism,” is one of the few people on the planet who can tell you why. If you own a garden center, or are employed in one, you must hear Howard’s inspiring call to action!
